Welcome

With fourteen years professional experience, I have worked with brand name companies such as Dell, Analog Devices and GE Security.

Inspired by Dell, I was awarded a BTech in Electronics Manufacturing from the University of Limerick in 2001 and since then I have gained considerable experience in maintaining, improving and designing production systems.

I spent the past seven years, redesigning, installing and managing the transition of an entire production facility. Lean manufacturing techniques were embedded into the process, realising major reductions in lead times, defects and work in progress. Significant investment was made in automated equipment and the entire system required continual assessment to achieve balance.

A balanced value chain, from supplier through to customer, delivers flow which in turn delivers quality product in a systematic timely manner. Bottleneck constraints will be present, the size and location of which can be priortised and managed.

A continuous improvement philosophy will deliver incremental changes to the system and over time, large scale success will begin to emerge.

When evaluating an existing value chain, it is important to determine the current state. New technology and work methods may be available to not only improve a system, but to revolutionise it.

Six and Lean Six Sigma may be used to control and improve the identified critical paramaters. A DMAIC approach can be useful to provide a focus on the aspect for improvement.

I hope this brief introduction gives you an insight into my philosophy of process improvement.
